Clare veterans, city officials and the community turned out Wednesday to welcome Army Reserve Lt. Ron Burns back home from Afghanistan.

Lt. Burns, Manager of Taco Bell in Clare, was deployed last May and has been at Camp Letherneck in Afghanistan until he returned home from the deployment March 16.

He was welcomed back by the community at a Clare Rotary Luncheon in his honor, presented with a key to the City and he and wife Ashley and daughter Kaylee were taken by Clare Fire Truck with a special police escort to Taco Bell for a welcome home celebration. VFW 1075 donated flags to help welcome Lt. Burns back to Clare.

“We are so glad he is home safe,” said wife Ashley. “We didn’t expect all this.”

The couple lives in Harrison.
