After a jury trial, Phillip Eugene Wentworth, Jr., 43 of Lake, was found guilty May 3rd of making a false report and disturbing the peace at a December incident inside the Family Farm and Home store in Clare.

Ambrozaitis said the incident happened December 21 when Wentworth was upset over an issue with a generator warranty, “and became loud and argumentative with the store manager.”

“He was out of control to the point that he was disturbing other customers and the police had to be called,” Ambrozaitis said in a Facebook post.

She said Wentworth told Clare Officer Francisco that the store manager had “pushed him,” but witnesses said there wasn’t any physical contact between the two men.

Wentworth was arrested and charged with “False Report of a Misdemeanor and Disturbing the Peace.” Assistant Prosecutor Andrew Santini handled the case.

Wentworth was referred to the probation department for a pre-sentence investigation report and will be sentenced later, Ambrozaitis said.
