For the second time in less than a month, Clare County Deputies are looking for people who have stolen items from Jay’s Sporting Goods just north of Clare.
Two men are still being sought in connection with the theft of a compound bow on June 28: a man in his mid-30s with a medium build with short brown hair, partly bald and a woman in her late 20s or early 30s with shoulder length brown hair. They were driving an older blue minivan.
The store was hit once again on July 17, when employees said more than $1,500 in fishing reels were taken by two men while they were waiting on other customers. The theft was reported July 24, Clare Undersheriff Dwayne Miedzianowski said.
Deputies said the men removed fishing reels from their boxes and left the empty boxes in a corner area of the store. Four reels were taken from the store: a Swimano Stella 2500FE estimated at $730; one Swimano Sustain 3000FG reel priced at $330; one Swimano Stradic C14 reel valued at $200 and one Flueger reel valued at $200.
The men, who may have left in a silver or tan vehicle, possibly a Ford, are described as follows: a younger man, about six feet and 180 pounds with short brown hair and facial hair and wearing a gray shirt and black shorts and with a cast on his right foot; and an older man about 5 feet 9 inches with a heavy build, grey-black hair and wearing a gray shirt, khaki shorts and black shoes.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Clare County Sheriff’s Department Detective Division at 989-539-7166.
