The Clare County CROP Hunger Walk Committee is pleased to announce that Gretchen Wilbur has been named Grand Marshal for this event that raises funds for people in need in our communities and around the world.
Gretchen Wilbur is retiring from the Clare County Department of Human Services, after over 34 years of service. This past week she answered some questions for us.
When did you start at DHS? September 18, 1978.
What is the date of your retirement? December 31, 2013
What is your title? General Services Program Manager/Community Resource Coordinator
What part of the job do you find most satisfying? I have enjoyed my work at DHS. I have enjoyed working with the many community partners that have generously supported the volunteer programs. I have also been fortunate to have worked with many supportive fellow DHS staff to share this journey with. But if I have to identify the most satisfying part of the job I would say it is working with the individual volunteers. Over the years I have meet hundreds of wonderful individuals that have shared their time and talents with those in need. They are so giving and the primary reason our volunteer programs have been effect.
What are your plans once you retire? Hobbies, travel, garden? When I retire I plan to spend more time with my family. Also I will definitely find some time for volunteering.
The Clare County CROP Hunger Walk gives Gretchen Wilbur special thanks for all her caring work. We thank her for all she has done and send our very best wishes for a happy retirement.
