William R. Wilson, age 72 lifetime resident and business owner of Clare, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014 at his residence. William was born the son of Roy Willis and Virgie (Dysinger) Wilson on December 9, 1941. He was a graduate of Clare High School and was a member of the Clare United Methodist Church. William had owned and operated both Wilson’s Painting and Decorating Center as well as Clare Painting and Decorating. He had been a past member of the Clare Kiwanis and enjoyed golfing in the Monday night golf league and their annual Kentucky Golf trip.
William is survived by the love of his life for the past 14 years Beverly Clemens; his mother Virgie Mae Wilson; children Robert (Tracie) Wilson and Pamela (Jason) McKewen; grandchildren Tiffany Wilson, Benjamin Mckewen and Olivia Mckewen; two sisters Joyce (Dick) Crane and Debbie (Greg) VanBuskirk; a brother-in-law Ray Merritt; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. William was predeceased by his father and a sister Janet Merritt.
Visitation and a Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10 A.M. followed by the service at 12 Noon. A luncheon will follow at the Clare Moose Lodge. Memorial contributions may be made to MidMichigan Home Care and Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.
