A winner of the “Name the foal” contest held at the Harrison Curves, was announced. Members of Curves suggested names for a race bred Quarter Horse colt. The Dam (mother) is “If One Can Dream,” and the Sire (father) was “Separatist,” a California bred well known racing stallion. The unnamed foal was born in Clare Co. on April 27, 2014 at T. Bill Stables. This foal will be eligible for running in races in New Mexico as a 2 yr. old at Ruidoso Downs.
The members voted on the suggested names and the winner was Connie Coughlin of Harrison. The winning name was “Walt’s Warrior, 1-2-3.” Second place went to Mary Clark of Beaverton with the name, “Cinnamon Bay.”
Connie chose the name “Walt’s Warrior” in honor of the late Walter Bay, owner of T. Bill Stables. Cold Cash 1-2-3, the 2011 World Champion Quarter Horse and Walt’s Warrior share the same grandmother.
The prize for the 1st place winner is an authentic horseshoe worn by Cold Cash.
