Central Michigan University police arrested a 21 year-old Warren man Tuesday while investigating a report of a suspicious person in Calkins Residence Hall. Former Clare businessman Kevin Lee Bencheck was sentenced to from 13 years 3 months to 20 years in prison in 55th Circuit Court April 25. Bencheck, who had a music business in Clare, was convicted January 25 on one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the Third Degree and one count of Assault With Intent to Commit Criminal Sexual Conduct. A 21 year-old Clare man, Philip Manners, was arrested early Tuesday morning after fleeing from Clare City officers attempting to stop him for a traffic violation. According to information from the Clare City Police, around 1:30 a.m. officers attempted to stop the man’s vehicle for improper lane use near Fifth and McEwan Streets in Clare when the man refused to stop.
