A Clare County Transit bus driver and a passenger in a second vehicle were injured May 8 when the bus pulled in front of a Saturn Ion.
The accident happened around 2 p.m. on the corner of Surrey Road and Old State Avenue, according to a release from Clare County Undersheriff Dwayne Miedzianowski.
Deputies determined that Harold McKnight, 70, of Harrison, who was driving the transit bus south bound on Old State, had stopped at the intersection of Surrey Road, then pulled out in front of an eastbound 2006 Saturn Ion, driven by Robert Green, 26, of Harrison.
Green’s passenger was June Pendleton, 70, of Harrison.
Deputies said the impact from the collision of the two vehicles caused the transit bus to hit another vehicle, a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Cynthia Odell, 65, of Harrison.
McKnight and Pendleton were both taken to MidMichigan Medical Center – Clare by Mobile Medical Response for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
All persons involved in the accident were wearing their seatbelts, and alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the accident, the police release said.
Surrey Rescue and MMR assisted at the scene.
The accident is still under investigation, the Undersheriff reported.
