Power Outage Caused by Crash

Samuel Zeeryp was arrested Sunday evening after he drove his vehicle into a power pole causing a power outage that affected around 800 homes in Mt. Pleasant on Pickard between University Street and Harris Street.

According to Mt. Pleasant Police Public Information Officer Autume Balcom, the accident happened at the corner of Pickard and Main Streets.

She said Zeeryp was arrested for drunk driving, adding that there were no injuries reported because of the crash.

Balcom said the accident was report at 9:03 p.m. October 27th.

Zeeryp was arraigned in Isabella County Trial Court on Monday, October 28th and charged with failing to maintain insurance; operating under the influence of alcohol; and operating a vehicle with a high blood alcohol content, according to Court information.

His bond was set at $4,000.

He is scheduled for a settlement conference on November 6th.

The intersection was closed overnight into the early morning hours Monday when Consumer’s Power crews were reportedly still on the scene.
