Time and Love to Give

December 2, 2019

Christmas greetings!!
I have two amazing kids. My son Preston is 15 and my daughter Leah is 13. And it’s very unfortunate that I’m unable to provide Christmas presents for them this year.

We currently live with my mother but the Offender Success Program has started the process to get me and my kids our own place to live. Yes, I am a felon and spent 10 months in prison. But that doesn’t change the fact that my family deserves a merry Christmas. I am truly a good person at heart, I just made some mistakes in my past. Everyone one makes mistakes in life but it’s what happens after the mistakes that makes a big difference in life.

So now I’m in the “redemption phase of my life” as I call it. I’ve given my life to God and I’m letting him guide the way. He is doing a much better job than I ever could have alone. I have gotten custody back of my kids and their grades are improving in school. I’m currently enrolled in cosmetology school with only 26 hours until completion. Then, God willing, I can take State Boards and start working. I am also enrolled for winter 2020 classes for Cosmetology Management.

I’ve been praying for God to give me my happy family back and to remove the barriers in the way of my success in life and recovery. He has been gracious enough to answer my prayers!! I’ve been working hard and I was picked to be one of MDOC’s success stories!

Now I may not have cash to buy presents right now, but I have a lot of time and love to give. Whether my family is chosen or not, if there is anything I could do to help this program I would be happy to help. If you need people to help wrap presents or bake cookies or whatever it may be, I would love to donate some time.

May God bless everyone involved in this program!
