“Old Fashion Day” at historical museum

September 21, 2017

The Clare County Historical Society is hosting its annual “Old Fashion Day” on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at its Clare County museum complex at the corner of Dover and Eberhart Roads, north of Clare. It’s their signature event that also marks the end of their 2017 season.

The event a great opportunity to experience life in Clare County when many things we consider necessities (like electricity, automobiles and telephones) were luxuries and TVs, computers, smartphones were still topics of science fiction. There will be blacksmiths, farm equipment, animals,  tractor rides, good food, games and more.  Visitors will also have one last chance to tour the museum, the historic one-room schoolhouse, blacksmith shop and the log cabin where the Ott family raised 18 children. There’s also the popular Spikehorn exhibit with its giant rabbit.

Music will again be provided by the Sunshine String Band.

Admission to the event is only $3 per person.  Children 12 years and under admitted free.  Proceeds benefit the museum.  Contact Marty at 734-755-2638 for more information.
